Missy Knott

An award-winning singer-songwriter who performs as Singing Wild Rice Girl, Melissa "Missy" Knott is the founder of Wild Rice Records. This collaborative artist collective, based in both Nogojiwanong (Peterborough) and Curve Lake First Nation, supports artists from all backgrounds with an emphasis on uplifting Indigenous voices. The collective's unique approach prioritizes the artists' overall well-being and growth, distinguishing it from a traditional record label.

A member of Curve Lake First Nation, Missy was appointed to the Ontario Arts Council (OAC) board of directors in September 2023. This past summer, she opened for Juno award-winning musician William Prince at Peterborough Musicfest.

Beyond her professional achievements, Missy is a mother, philanthropist, and educational assistant who remains an active member of her Curve Lake First Nation community.
